In this episode, I take a brief glimpse at a genre of music popular in the inner city and how one Franciscan priest is turning it around for the glory of the Gospel. I include some sound clips from Fr. Stan Fortuna’s retreats and improvs.
I was exposed to Catholic hip hop at Catholic Underground NYC, run by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal who invited some Catholic hip hip artists from Texas. This got me to recall the talent of Fr. Stan Fortuna and how he has “melted down” this form of music to spread the Gospel and teach young people the true meaning of the love of God.
